October, 2023, Sydney, Australia - Genesis Motors Australia is pleased to announce the continuation of its partnership with the Museum of Contemporary Art Australia (MCA Australia) to support the highly anticipated 2023-2024 Sydney International Art Series exhibition by acclaimed contemporary artist Tacita Dean.
Opening to the public on 8 December 2023, Tacita Dean’s MCA Australia exhibition will be the largest presentation of the artist’s work in the Southern Hemisphere. The major exhibition will bring together film installations, drawings and photography created over the past five years in Berlin, Los Angeles and Japan.
Considered one of the most important living artists of our times, Dean is renowned for her singular poetic vision that speaks to time, memory and storytelling. This comprehensive exhibition will offer a unique opportunity to encounter Dean’s distinctive works.

- Since the early 1990s, Tacita Dean has exhibited widely in exhibitions and biennales internationally. Her work has been the subject of numerous solo exhibitions at major institutions including Mudam Luxembourg – Musée d’Art Moderne Grand-Duc Jean (2022); J Paul Getty Museum, Los Angeles, USA (2022); Kunstmuseum Basel, Switzerland (2021); Espoo Museum of Modern Art, Finland (2020); Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek, Copenhagen, Denmark (2019); Serralves Museum of Contemporary Art, Porto, Portugal (2019); Kunsthaus Bregenz, Austria (2018); New Museum, New York, USA (2012); Tate Modern, London, UK (2011); and the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York, USA (2007). In 2018, the artist presented concurrent solo exhibitions at the Royal Academy, the National Portrait Gallery and the National Gallery in London.
Dean was commissioned to create the set design and costumes for a new ballet, The Dante Project. A collaboration with the Royal Ballet’s choreographer Wayne McGregor and conductor-composer Thomas Adès, the ballet was presented at the Royal Opera House, London in October 2021 and the Palais Garnier, Paris in May 2023.
Dean was nominated for the Turner Prize in 1998 and she has been the recipient of numerous prizes including the Sixth Benesse Prize at the 51st Venice Biennale in 2005, the Hugo Boss Prize at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York in 2006, and the Kurt Schwitters Prize in 2009. Dean was elected to the Royal Academy in 2008. In 2011, Dean was commissioned to produce the monumental work FILM for the Turbine Hall at Tate Modern, London. In 2014–15 she was the Artist in Residence at the Getty Research Institute, Los Angeles.
